Severn Trent Water use Macrium’s Deployment Kit

Severn Trent Water

Loz Rimington, IS Field Support, describes how they have utilised Macrium’s Deployment Kit.

Severn Trent was formed in 1974 as a regional, state-owned water authority based in Birmingham and responsible for water management and supply, and waste water treatment and disposal in the rivers Severn and Trent.

It's personal…

Loz first found out about Macrium after he had trouble restoring Windows 8 on his personal Dell laptop and found his current provider wasn't cutting the mustard. A quick search through some online forums and he discovered that Macrium Reflect was highly thought of, so he downloaded the free edition.

"It just worked! I liked the interface and was so impressed that Macrium gave away a free edition for home users that I mentioned it to my work colleagues".

A lifesaver

Severn Trent Water were having significant problems getting their current backup supplier to image or restore on their corporate Dell laptops, especially as the corporate laptops were all encrypted, so they gave Macrium a trial and were very impressed with the results.

"One of Macrium’s best features has to be the speed. Suddenly even the largest images could be backed up and restored incredibly quickly, more than twice as fast as our previous supplier".

Other features of interest have been the ability to automate and clone live machines. The team have found the interface superb and very easy to use.

"What you see is exactly what you get. This solution is much less complicated to use than their competitors and ticks all our boxes!"

Deployment Kit

Severn Trent Water will be using Macrium's new deployment kit in their organisation. This allows them to use the power of the Macrium Technician's License to create and deploy images in their enterprise. One single user can now image multiple servers and PCs.

"We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Macrium to other businesses, and it's nice to see a British home grown product!".
